It’s unfit to travel divided from John Q. though meditative about the movie which could have been. The pitiable state of illness caring in the U.S. as good as the unfortunate function it engenders is not usually estimable though irritable material; no disbelief executive Nick Cassavetes (She’s So Lovely) as good as Denzel Washington (as good as Robert Duvall, Ray Liotta, James Woods, as good as Anne Heche) were drawn to the provocative pitch. The usually obstacle is which John Q. has about as most corner as an after-school special. Washington plays John Quincy Archibald, the industrious bureau workman whose residence stands to be repossessed as good as whose poetic mother (Kimberly Elise) is during her wits’ end. When his intensely lovable son collapses whilst rounding the bases in the Little League game, things go from bad to worse. John Q. takes the downtown Chicago puncture room warrant when he learns which the heart medical operation his son needs won’t be achieved since his illness caring doesn’t cover it. The action-drama which ensues–replete with one-liners, pretentious debate, unhandy snipers, as good as mixed references to O.J. Simpson’s white Bronco–is so dirty with clichés which the issues, timely ones, get mislaid in the crescendo of melodrama. –Fionn Meade
